Gardening is relaxing and enjoyable and you can even have the satisfaction of eating your own produce. During the Covid lockdowns people turned to gardening for its wonderful therapeutic effect. The Garden centres were crowded with people buying bags of compost, vegetable plants and pots of flowers, probably for the first time in their lives.
It was very encouraging to see this new interest in gardening, which hopefully will continue. However, gardening in France has its challenges. In the group we like to discuss ways of overcoming them and often invite experts to give an interesting talk and offer advice.
We also enjoy visiting gardens and garden centres in the area and any suggestions of interesting places to visit are always welcome.
When winter arrives and the gardens are closed, the group move inside and we’ve had many enjoyable mornings doing “Flower Arranging” “Winter Hanging Baskets” “Christmas – Table Centre Pieces”.
The group meet every other month. Usually we meet at different TWIG members’ homes where we can chat and enjoy cake and a coffee. Afterwards, naturally, we have lunch in a local restaurant or enjoy a pot luck lunch together !!
